Autumn Leaves是一首在爵士专辑中频率出现频率很高的曲子，Cannonball Adderley Feat. Miles Davis演绎的版本是很好的一个，整首曲子长度达到了11分钟，Miles Davis的小号以Autumn Leaves主旋律框架开始，逐渐偏离，肆意游走一番之后又回到了原框架之中，小号竟也能忧郁的表达出Autumn Leaves的意境。

实际上Autumn Leaves并非专属于爵士领域。早在1945年，法国作曲家Joseph Kosma就创作出了Les feuilles mortes(英译后为The Dead Leaves)，并由诗人Jacques Prévert完成歌词部分，到1947年，由美国歌曲创作者Johnny Mercer完成了英文歌词。由于Autumn Leaves旋律优美，无论是在流行音乐界还是爵士界都被广为演绎和翻唱。因此Autumn Leaves也可以作为体验爵士的一个窗口，看看一段经典旋律在不同的大师掌控下会有多少不一样的变化。通过在虾米上的搜索，我发现竟然有一张Autumn Leaves – Anthology Of One Song合辑，合辑中收藏了许多不同版本的Autumn Leaves。

但When Johnny Comes Marching Home也并非源头，其改编自另一首Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye。Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye是一首爱尔兰反战歌曲，产生于19世纪早期英国的东印度公司在爱尔兰征兵去锡兰作战的背景下，描述战士带着残缺不全的身体从战场返回家乡的情景，著名民谣女歌手Joan Baez曾翻唱过Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye，很幽怨；之后到了美国的南北战争时期，爱尔兰裔的Patrick Gilmore改写了Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye的歌词和伴奏来用以鼓舞士气，在改编后的描述中，Johnny从战场完好无损的凯旋，回到了家乡亲人和朋友的身边。蝴蝶效应阴暗与阳光版的两个结局。

同样的旋律在不同的伴奏编曲下表达的意思截然不同，音乐的魔力。

最让我意外的是来自Chet Baker的My Funny Valentine

这首歌被唱得太忧郁了，这声音应该来自一个年轻、从来都不会展现出笑容的黑人女性，而我无论如何也想不到这才是Chet Baker的真面目。

和摇滚乐不同，我无法确切地说出是哪首爵士歌曲使我突然被爵士吸引住，爵士乐在我的生活中从无到有完全是一个渐进的过程。如果一定要找到哪一首“始作俑者”，我能想到的是The Carpenters(对，就是那首无处不在的Yesterday Once More)的This Masquerade。这首歌的曲调，尤其是中间一段洋气十足的钢琴solo，实在是太独特了，在懵懂之中我仿佛被告知这就是所谓的爵士吧。但直到今天，这首歌究竟是什么风格我还是说不清楚。或许和爵士压根就没一丁点的关系。

此后买碟的过程中，我会有意无意地看一下爵士乐的合辑(合辑和精选，对于一个从未接触过的风格或艺术家来说，是一个很好的了解途径)，对于买来的爵士合辑CD一般只是偶尔听一听，因为其中总是音乐多歌曲少，这多多少少会感觉挺没劲的，而且和摇滚乐相比，总是太乏力了。但其也有些特点是我不忍心将爵士完全放弃的，首先，即使一张专辑中仅有几首唱出来的歌曲，这些歌曲聆听起来的体验也和摇滚歌曲截然不同，那种自由与灵性难以用语言描述；其次，在经历了一天喧嚣的精疲力尽的夜晚，耳朵似乎难以再承受这失真音响的轰鸣，而这时候放上一支爵士恰恰能后抚慰抚慰脆弱的心灵，像是在烈日下奔命一天后痛饮下花果味道的清茶，畅快无比。

作为由已知流行世界向爵士世界的探索，我尝试了以下专辑作为过渡：

George Michael – Songs From The Last Century

George Michael的一张爵士风格翻唱专辑，里面除了一些原版的爵士歌曲(如Nina Simone的Wild is the Wind)外，其他风格的歌曲也进行了爵士化的演绎，如The Police的Roxanne，连雷鬼都能改成爵士，另外加上来自George Michael的最美妙的声音。

Various Artists – Now Jazz 3 (That’s What I Call)

包含了多种爵士风格的精选辑，涵盖了老中青三代艺术家，还有Keren Ann这样的清新民谣。在双CD的30首歌曲中，总有一种爵士适合你。

Norah Jones – Come Away with Me

听过了Come Away with Me后，你会感觉单是”Norah Jones”这个名字读起来都会很美。

如今我听过Smashing Pumpkins的所有录音室专辑，没有一张让我失望过，哪怕是那张饱受批评的Adore，但偏偏找不到这首The End is the Beginning is the End的出处，通过万能的Wikipedia终于知道我的碎瓜的处女听竟出自一部同样饱受批评的电影——Batman & Robin。关于Batman系列的电影，不同的导演拍出迥然不同的风格，我觉得如果没有多年每月按时看连载漫画的经历而来凭空批评电影是肤浅的…其实我想说的是我觉得这部电影还不错，如果本身是基于漫画改编的话表演得再夸张又有什么关系呢？

Batman & Robin电影Soundtracks中的最后一首也是Smashing Pumpkin的歌，名为The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning，旋律和前面的相同但是柔和了许多，电子感十足更接近Adore的风格，但我更爱噪版的、E弦降调的The End is the Beginning is the End。

最近在重温一些原来看过的经典电影，死亡幻觉自然是不可漏掉的一部。在电影即将结束的最后时刻，才发现之前的一切都只是黄粱一梦，要命的是梦境中的主人公此时却已经死于非命，而他究竟知不知道黄粱梦中的一切？影片的高潮在最后到来，伴随着这段音乐的开始，心中莫名其妙的伤感也随着电影在音乐的催化下达到了高潮，却又感觉到欲哭无泪的压抑。

Mad World最初源自英国流行摇滚乐队Tears of Fears，原唱包含强烈的新浪潮/舞曲元素，在死亡幻觉中由美国歌手Gary Jules将其改为了抒情版并由此大获成功，连续3周名列英国圣诞单曲排行第一名。不少电子/舞曲/新浪潮风格的歌曲旋律相当优美，只是因为个人喜好的原因一听到开始几秒钟蹦蹦擦擦的电子音效节奏就感觉其简单的没有内涵而不想在听下去，或者根本就不沾电子乐的边。而此类歌曲一旦剥离电子外壳并经过艺术家由传统乐器的成功演绎翻唱后，必定影响范围更大，流传更广，比如Gary Jules的Mad World，比如Frente的Bizarre Love Triangle。这个视频主要由死亡幻觉的电影片段构成，也能看到翻唱者Gary Jules究竟是何模样。

在铁血摇滚中这首歌是作为天生杀人狂的OST选择的，在歌曲的最后几秒为了引出大开杀戒的血腥场面还加入了一声变态诡异的尖笑，配合着铁血摇滚小册子中下一首歌的演唱者Lou Reed病态哥特的黑眼圈照片，这几个形象叠加出了我对Leonard Cohen的最初印象：绝望，阴暗却又饱含爆发的力量。而随后买了张The Best Of Leonard Cohen的CD证明我最初的印象完全是错的，那张专辑里Cohen的音乐完全没有爆发没有高潮而是感觉相当的沉闷，何况这还是张精选辑。

毕竟我和states主流大众的品位还基本保持一致:)，当Cohen在60年代发行处女专辑时，并没引起美国市场太多的注意，而时隔多年之后直到九十年代Cohen才在美国乐坛迎来了人品的大爆发。而对于我来说，那张沉闷的The Best Of Leonard Cohen已被尘封多年，直到随着09年下载了当时感觉可有可无的Cohen的新演出现场专辑Live In London，Leonard Cohen的音乐才又被我重新认识，不由得感叹险些错过了如此珍宝。Leonard Cohen的音乐仿佛是一本书，而书的第一页我才刚刚打开。

视频中的Waiting for the Miracle似乎是完整版，但从视频上看又仿佛是后配的，总之感觉比天生杀人狂里的还要苍凉许多。

Mad Season是个超级乐队，像是变身之后的赛亚人，因为其成员来自顶尖的Grunge乐队——Alice in Chains、Pearl Jam和Screaming Trees。Lone Gone Day中Mark Lanegan深沉的低音和Layne Staley典型韧性的高音形成了鲜明的对比，萨克斯包含灵性的游走在打击乐和贝斯之间，一时间使我像是置身于电影”时间机器”中的飞行器里，在分钟之内看着沧海桑田物换星移，最终全部世界都被那甜味醉人的萨克斯给融化掉了。

A Looking in View是Alice in Chains即将在9月发行的新专辑Black Gives Way To Blue中的第一首单曲。相比Jar of Flies和Sap中的风格偏向于民谣实验，A Looking in View回归了重型的吉他riff，前奏一度使我感觉仿佛是一首金属乐歌曲，随着音乐的展开，Alice in Chains独有的特点开始浮现。Alice in Chains的音乐中大多表现愤恨、愁苦、不断增加的失望而导致的绝望，这首Looking in View的Video更是将这些特点表现的淋漓尽致，两端式的故事，先是不安的焦虑感被压迫到了歇斯底里的程度，然后是性与自毁、赎罪这样带有宗教意味的镜头，仿佛使人置身于邪恶而又没有出路的梦魇，“人皮客栈”这类恐怖片的感觉。结尾时阳光照在干裂的荒野上，自毁的女主角身着白色素装，之前的一切是梦么？

有那么几个瞬间，William DuVall的声音会有那么一点像Layne Staley，但还没能使我听出他自己的独特之处。所以虽然和Jerry Cantrell的和声依然很美妙，但却不像Layne Staley与Jerry Cantrell的和声那样形成极大的反差。Down in the Hole中二者的配合实在是太美妙了。

虽然那拉长的迷人的鼻音已经永远不在了, 但对与我最喜爱的Grunge乐队Alice in Chains, 有新专辑总比没有好. 怀念Layne Staley.

使我重拾Horrible的却是则很使人震惊的好消息——“澳洲精灵”Frente中国巡演 北京站，这是第一个我喜爱的外国乐队来中国的演出，07年迷迷糊糊的错过了音速青年，这次，势在必得。
